About Us

Stone Cliff Winery and vineyard is owned and operated by Bob and Nan Smith and is currently located in the beautiful rolling hills outside of Dubuque in Eastern Iowa. The first vineyard was planted in 1998 and each year after a new vineyard was added. Today Stone Cliff has 10 acres of vines it uses to blend with California varietals which gives the flavor of the great wines the consumer has come to recognize and appreciate.

The winery started selling in 2001 and four of their six wines have received a variety of awards from the Indiana State competition. All 6 of their wines are top sellers in the Dubuqueland area.

Thanks to their increase in volume, Stone Cliff moved it's entire production operation to the historic Dubuque Star Brewery at the Port of Dubuque in May of 2007. Visitors are able to sample the wines and browse through the gift shop while enjoying the breath taking view of the Mississippi. Tours of the winery facility will be available and the Barrel Room will be available for those special parties or business meetings.

Son Shane Smith has now relocated to Dubuque from Oregon to be part of the operation.

The Dubuque Star Brewery's front yard is the new Alliant Amphitheater so additional scheduled events can be expected during the summer months.
